By THE TOWER STAFF
You may have been an avid reader of The Tower since our days as a print publication or your introduction could have come from an encounter with our Facebook page.
This project has been one that we have been working on for years. Through doing our diligence of researching content management systems, figuring out our own infrastructure and team, and then getting the buy-in for this project, it has been a process to say the least. But it appears we have arrived at a triumphant launch.
Professor Jason Smith, our supervisor here at The Tower, has been with this project for six years. Dr. Smith has nurtured The Tower even with a revolving door of students coming in and out every year to then graduate in three to four years. And we are most grateful for his leadership and guidance during this period of reconstruction.
As a student run staff, The Tower serves as an educational tool for learning journalism, improving writing skills, advancing organizational leadership, and more. It also looks into what working in a journalism field may look like from writing to digital content creation, which might included videography, and photography. Now, we can add web-design and management to that list of what we are learning in the Communication & Media Arts Department at Bethany College.
But now our readers, our ‘likers’ & commenters on our Facebook, our fellow Bethanians, and you, yes you, reading this right now are the ones that can help us flourish by checking in weekly and sharing a link or two from our site.
We also would like to take the time to express our deepest gratitude to the benefactors of our website redesign project. These individuals who have and will continue to make a huge difference in us student learning experience and also our service that we offer to our community on campus and at large.
The following individuals were vital in our success:
Mrs. Hollie N. Adams
Ms. Sandra A. Block
Ms. Melissa A. Ehret
Mr. and Mrs. Kurt G. Franck Jr.
Ms. Beth E. Grace
Mr. David Hosseini
Mr. and Mrs. Peter E. Jensen
Mr. and Mrs. George Manahan
Ms. Lynn M. Nakashian
Dr. Tamara and Mr. John Rodenberg
Mrs. Susan H. Shapiro
Mr. Jeffrey L. Seglin
We at The Tower are excited and look forward to the years of student staff members on The Tower to be able to utilize the new and modern website to gain more skills and a better learning experience from this resource. We also are excited to be able to serve our community in a larger and better way.
